Key Precautions When Operating a Silent Generator Set
Silent generators are essential for providing backup power with minimal noise disruption, making them ideal for residential and commercial use. However, proper startup procedures are critical to ensure safety and longevity. PERKINS POWER (WEIFANG) CO.,LTD remind you the the followings are key precautions when operating a Silent generator.
About Silent generator
1. Preparation before starting
Fuel and lubrication check
Check the diesel tank oil level to ensure that it is not less than 3/4 capacity, and use national standard fuel to avoid carbon deposition; the lubricating oil level in the oil pan should be kept in the middle of the scale line, and add to the standard line when insufficient.
Cooling and ventilation system
The water tank coolant needs to be filled to 3/4 water level, and antifreeze should be used in cold seasons;
Open the wind window or ensure that the vents are unobstructed before starting to prevent carbon monoxide accumulation.
Equipment status confirmation
Check that the cables and plugs are not damaged and the electrical connections are stable38;
Ensure that the generator set is placed stably and away from flammable materials (distance ≥1 meter).
Special tips
Monitor the vibration of the unit during the first start-up, and stop the machine immediately for abnormal vibration;
Self-check the sealing of the mute box to prevent the leakage of operating noise.
2. Key points of operation monitoring
Load management
After starting, it is necessary to run at idle speed for 3-5 minutes (ordinary units) before loading. Automatic units can skip this step;
It is forbidden to run at no load for a long time (>10 minutes) to avoid carbon deposition on the injector.
Dynamic parameter observation
Monitor whether the voltage (400V), frequency (50Hz), oil temperature (≤95℃) and water temperature (≤90℃) are normal15;
Judgment by exhaust color: black smoke indicates poor combustion, and white smoke may be coolant seeping into the cylinder.
Abnormal handling
Shut down immediately if abnormal noise, sparks or parameters exceed the standard, and restart is prohibited before troubleshooting;
When the load increases suddenly and causes overload, it is preferred to cut off non-essential loads and then adjust.
3. Shutdown and maintenance specifications
Shutdown operation
After unloading the load, run at idle speed for 3-5 minutes to cool down, and then turn off the throttle to shut down;
Emergency shutdown is only used in sudden dangerous scenarios, and frequent use can easily damage the engine.
Daily maintenance
After stopping, close the fuel valve and drain the fuel system to prevent oil deterioration;
Run the machine at no load for 15 minutes every month to keep the battery active and the machine lubricated.
In-depth maintenance
Replace the engine oil and three filters (air filter first) every 500 hours;
Check the moisture-proof device in the silent box to ensure that the drain valve is always open to prevent condensation water accumulation.
4. Safety protection requirements
Wear protective gloves and goggles during operation to avoid contact with high-temperature components;
Suspend use in thunderstorms and install lightning protection devices if necessary;
Disconnect the battery power supply before maintenance to prevent accidental start-up.
(Note: The silent box unit has both noise reduction and protection functions. When operating, you need to pay attention to the sealing and heat dissipation balance of the box).
